Things Women Need to Hear (But Rarely Do)
By Ashley Barnes, LPC
Let’s just face the fact that the world we live praises productivity over peace. Their agenda, not yours! Everyday you wake up to chase and uphold standards that you don’t even believe in. Here’s what women rarely hear — but desperately need to:
1. Your title is not your identity.
You are not the roles you fill. Not just the mother, the manager, or the one who holds everyone else together.
Those roles reflect parts of you, but they don’t define you. If you link your identity to titles, you will risk losing clarity when those titles shift. True identity lives in your VOICE, your VALUES, and your VISION.
2. Checking all the boxes won’t make you happy.
We chase the next thing, thinking fulfillment will meet us there — only to find the same emptiness once we arrive. Happiness doesn’t come solely from being booked and busy just for the sake of doing more. You have to be aligned — let what you do and how you show up reflect who you are.
3. You already know what you want — you just don’t trust yourself enough to choose it.
I hear women often say, “I don’t know what I want.” But they do — they just don’t feel safe enough to name it and for one reason or another have been conditioned to overlook thier wants. Trusting yourself is the act of validating your desires without waiting for external approval.
